QUARTER-Master, is an officer, generally a lieutenant, whose principal buſineſs is to look after the quarters of the ſoldiers, their clothing, bread, ammunition, firing, &c. Every regiment of foot and artillery has a quarter-master, and every troop of horſe one, who are only warrant-officers, except in the Blues.
