STEMODIA, in botany: A genus of plants belonging to the class of didynamia, and order of angiosperma; and in the natural system ranging under the 40th order, Perfonata. The calyx is quinquepartite; the corolla bilabiate; there are four stamens; each of the filaments are bifid, and have two antheræ. The capsule is bilocular. There is only one species, the maritima.
