SELINUM, in botany: A genus of the digynia order, belonging to the pentandria class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 45th order, Umbellata. The fruit is oval, oblong, compressed, plane, and striated in the middle: the involucre is reflexed; the petals cordate and equal. There are seven species, the sylvestre, palustre, cultriacum, carvifolia, chabraci, seguieri, monuieri.
