SESELI, MEADOW SAXIFRAGE, in botany: A genus of plants belonging to the class of pentandria, and to the order of digynia; and in the natural system ranging under the 45th order, Umbellatae. The umbels are globular; the involucre consists of one or two leaflets; the fruit is egg-shaped and streaked. There are 11 species, the pimpinelloides, montanum, glaucum, annuum, anmoides, tortuosum, turbith, hypnomarathrum, pyreneum, foxisfragum, and clatum. The montanum grows naturally in France and Italy; the glaucum is a native of France; the anmoides and tortuosum grow in the south of Europe; and the hypnomarathrum is a native of Austria.
