TERNATE, the most northerly of the Molucca or Clove Islands in the East Indies. It abounds in cocoanuts, bananas, citrons, oranges, almonds, and other fruit proper to the torrid zone; but cloves are the most valuable produce. It is in the possession of the Dutch.
