TETRAGYNIA, (tetragyne, "four," and gyne "a woman"); the name of an order, or secondary division in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 13th classes in the Sexual System; consisting of plants which, to the class character, whatever it is, add the circumstance of having four styles or female organs.
