PEACOCK, in anatomy, a name given by Winslow, in his Treatise on the Head, and by some of the French writers, to the muscle called by Albinus latissimus colli; and by others detrahens quadratus, and quadratus gene. Santorini has called the part of this which arises from the cheek musculus risorius novus; and some call the whole platysma myoides.
