DEPHLEG-
MATION, is an operation by which
the superabundant water of a body is taken from it;
and it is principally effected by evaporation or distilla-
tion. Dephlegmation is also called Concentration, par-
ticularly when acids are the subject. See CONCEN-
TRATION.
