VERSE

VERSE, in Poetry, a line consisting of a number of long and short syllables, which run with an agreeable cadence.

VERSE is also used for a part of a chapter, section, &c. VERSIFICATION, the art or manner of making verse; also the tune and cadence of verse. See POETRY, Part III.
