TINNING, the covering or lining any thing with melted tin, or tin reduced to a very fine leaf. Looking-glasses are foliated or tinned with plates of beaten tin, the whole bigness of the glass, applied or fastened thereto by means of quicksilver. See FOLLATING of Looking Glasses.
