ASCLEPIAD, in Ancient Poetry, a verse composed of four feet, the first of which is a spondee, the second a choriambus, and the two last dactyls; or of four feet and a cæsuræ, the first a spondee, the second a dactyl, after which comes the cæsuræ, then the two dactyls; as, Mæcenas atavis edite regibus.
