APPARATUS is also used as a title of several books composed in form of catalogues, bibliotecas, dictionaries, &c. for the ease and convenience of study. The apparatus to Cicero is a kind of concordance, or collection of Ciceronian phrases, &c. The apparatus facer of Poffevin, is a collection of all kinds of ecclesiastical authors, printed in 1611, in three volumes.—Glossaries, comments, &c. are also frequently called apparatuses.
