ÆNARIA, in Ancient Geography, an island in the bay of Cumæ, or over-against Cumæ in Italy, (Pliny.) It is also called Inarime (Virgil); and now Ischia; scarce three miles distant from the coast, and the promontory Misenus to the west; 20 miles in compass; called Pitheusa by the Greeks.
