MEZIERS, a strong town of France in the department of Ardennes, with a citadel. It was besieged with a powerful army by Charles V. who was obliged to raise the siege in 1521. It is seated on the river Meuse, partly upon a hill, and partly in a valley, in E. Long. 4. 48. N. Lat. 49. 46.
