MOHAIR, in commerce, the hair of a kind of goat frequent about Angora in Turkey; the inhabitants of which city are all employed in the manufacture of camblets made of this hair.
Some give the name mohair to the camblets or fluffs made of this hair; of these there are two kinds; the one smooth and plain, the other watered like tabbies: the difference between the two only consists in this, that the latter is callendered, the other not. There are also mohairs both plain and watered, whose wool is of wool, cotton, or thread.
