MONTGATZ, a town of Lower Hungary, in the county of Pereczas, with a strong fortress. It is encompassed with a great morals, and art and nature have rendered it almost impregnable. It was defended by the prince Ragotky, wife of Count Tekeli, when besieged by an army of the imperialists, who were obliged to raise the siege in 1688. E. Long. 21. 55. N. Lat. 46. 26.
