LOCRI, or LOCRI Episephyrui, in Ancient Geogra-
phy, a town on the Ionian sea near the promontory
Zephyrium. The people were called Locri and Lo-
creneses, and are said to be the first who used a code of
written laws, compiled by Zaleucus from the laws of
the Cretans and others.
