JUSTICIAR, in the old English laws, an officer instituted by William the Conqueror, as the chief officer of state, who principally determined in all cases, civil and criminal. He was called in Latin Capitalis iusticiarius totius Anglie. For JUSTICIAR in Scotland, see LAW INDEX.
