LEUCOPETRA, in Ancient Geography, so called from its white colour, (Strabo); a promontory of the Brutii, in the territory of Rhegium, the termination of the Apennines; the utmost extremity of the Brutii, or the modern Calabria Ultra; as the Japygium is of the ancient Calabria, or the modern Calabria Citra.
