CASTILE-de-Oro, a fertile and large country in South America, lying to the west of the Oronoko. It comprehends eight governments; viz. Terra Firma, Proper Carthagea, St Martha, Rio de la Hacha, Venezuela, New Andalusia, Popayan, and the kingdom of New Granada.
