CADES, or KADESH, in Ancient Geography, a town in the wilderness of Zin, in Arabia Petrea; the first encampment of the Israelites, after their departure from Exzongeb; and from which the wilderness of Zin was called Cades; the burial place of Miriam, with the rock and water of Meribah in it. Another Cades, a town of the tribe of Judah, Joshua xv. 23. Cadesbarnea, called also Cades.
