CONDE, a town of the French Netherlands, in the province of Hainault, with the title of a principality, and a castle. It is one of the strongest towns in this country, and seated near the confluence of the rivers Hainne and Scheldt. It was taken by the allies in 1793, and retaken by the French in 1794.
