CRASIS, in Grammar, is a figure whereby two different letters are either contracted into one long letter or a diphthong. Such, e. g. is οφισ for οφισας; αλητα for αλητα, &c. τοπος for τοπους, &c. where ι and α are contracted into αι; and ι and α into αι; and ι and α into αι.
