CHOSROES I. the Great, king of Persia after his father Cabades, A. D. 532. He made peace with the Romans; but broke it the third year, and forced Justinian to a disadvantageous peace. Afterwards, he was so swelled with his victories, as to bid the emperor's ambassador follow him for audience to Cæsaræa; but Tiberius sent an army under Justinian, who made himself master of the country, and put Chosroes to death in 586.
