FRANCFORT on the Oder, a rich and handsome town of Germany, in the middle marche of Brandenburg, formerly imperial, but now subject to the king of Prussia. It is remarkable for three great fairs, and a celebrated university; and was taken by the French in 1806. It lies about 45 miles south east of Berlin, and 72 south of Stein. E. Long. 14. 45. N.
