HENNEBERG, a county of Germany, in the circle of Franconia; is bounded on the north by Thuringia, on the west by Hesse, on the south by the bishoprick of Wertburg, and on the east by that of Bamberg; abounds in mountains and woods; and is populous and fertile. Mainingen is the capital town.
