HEPHTHEMIMIRIS (composed of ἥπτα, seven, ἡμισυς, half, and μῆς, part), in the Greek and Latin poetry, a sort of verse consisting of three feet and a syllable; that is, of seven half feet.

Such are most of the verses in Anacreon:

Θῖλω | λεγέω | Ἀτρε | δας
Θῖλω | δὲ Κᾶδ | μὲν α | δῖπ, &c.

And that of Aristophanes, in his Plutus:

Ἐπὶ τῷ μῆσῃ χεῖρι.

They are also called trimetri catalektici.
