LOUTH, a town of Lincolnshire in England, 136 miles from London. It is a town corporate, contained 4728 inhabitants in 1811, and has two weekly markets. Here are several handsome houses. From hence there is a canal to the sea at Tilney, about eight miles. Besides a charity school for 40 children, it has a free school founded by Edward VI. with a large church, and a fine steeple, which some think is as high as Grantham spire, which is 288 feet. Louth is 156 miles north from London.
