NEWTYA, a port little known, on the coast between Goa the capital of the Portuguese settlements in India, and the English settlement of Bombay. Mr Rennel conjectures it to be the Nitrias of Pliny; near which the pirates cruised for the Roman ship. The same writer places it near to 15^{\circ} 52' 30'' north latitude, and 73^{\circ} 16' 30'' east longitude.
