ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, a town of Nova Scotia, is seated
on the bay of Fundy; and, though a mean place,
was formerly the capital of the province. It has one
of the finest harbours in America, capable of contain-
ing 1000 vessels at anchor in the utmost security. The
place is also protected by a fort and garrison. At the
bottom of the harbour is a point of land, which divides
two rivers; and on each side there are pleasant mead-
ows, which in spring and autumn are covered with all
sorts of fresh-water fowl. There is a trade carried on
by the Indians with furs, which they exchange for Eu-
ropean goods. W. Long. 65. 22. N. Lat. 45. 10.
