ORIENT, a town and harbour of France, in the department of Morbihan, in the bottom of the bay of St Louis. Since the year 1720, a handsome town has been built here, where the French East India Company had large magazines. It was formerly a free port. The number of inhabitants in 1800 was 19,022.
