PALFREY, is one of the better sort of horses used
by noblemen or others for state; and sometimes of old taken for a horse fit for a woman to ride. Camden says, that William Fauconberge held the manor of Cuckeny, in the county of Nottingham, in serjeantry, by the service of shoeing the king's palfrey when the king should come to Mansfield.
