DALTON, a town of Lancashire, in England. It is seated on the spring-head of a river, in a champaign country, not far from the sea; and the ancient castle is made use of to keep the records, and prisoners for debt in the liberty of Furness. Population 643 in 1811. W. Long. 3. c. N. Lat. 54. 18.
