CONDE, a town of the French Netherlands, in the department of the North, with the title of a principality, and has 5000 inhabitants. It is one of the strongest towns in this country, and seated near the confluence of the rivers Haisne and Scheldt. It was taken by the allies in 1793, and retaken by the French in 1794.
