CONSOLIDATION, in Law, the combining and uniting two benefits into one. The term is borrowed from the civil law; where it properly signifies an union of the possession, or occupation, with the property. Thus, if a man have by legacy usum fructum fundi, and afterwards buy the property, or fee-simple, of the heir; this is called a consolidation.
