CHIPPENHAM, a town of Wiltshire, seated on the river Avon, containing 3410 inhabitants in 1811. It has a handsome stone bridge over the river, consisting of 21 arches; and sends two members to parliament. There is here a manufacture of the best superfine woollen cloth in England. W.
