CORONE, in Ancient Geography, a town of Messenia, situated on the sea, giving name to the Sinus Coronæus, (Pliny); now Golfo di Coron. Pausanias takes it to be the Æpea of Homer; but Strabo Thuria, and Pliny Pedasus; now Coron, in the territory of Belvidere, in the Morea. E. Long. 22. N. Lat. 36. 30.
