COCINTUM, in Ancient Geography, a promontory of the Brutii, reckoned the longest in Italy, and which Holstenius and Vossius have restored to Ovid, reading Cocintia for Ceraunia, Metam. xv. v. 704.—Cocintum, also a town 22 miles to the south of Scylaceum, almost on the spot where now Stilo stands, from which the opposite promontory Cocintum is commonly called Capo de Stilo.
