AMELIA, a county in Virginia, situated between the Blue-ridge and the tide waters, having Cumberland county on the north, Prince George county on the east, and Lunenburg county on the south and west. In 1810 Amelia contained 10,594 inhabitants, of whom a great proportion were slaves.
