Water ADDER, a name given to the COLUBER Natrix.
ADDER-
Adder-stung, is used in respect of cattle, when stung by any kind of poisonous reptiles, as adders, scorpions, &c. or bit by a hedgehog or shrew.—For the cure of such bites, some use an ointment made of dragon's blood, with a little barley meal, and the whites of eggs.
