Lat. 47°.—Another of the Salassii, near the two gates or dehes of the Alps, the Grajce and Pennine (Pliny); a Roman colony settled by Augustus after the defeat of the Salassii by Terentius Varro, on the spot where he encamped (Strabo, Dio Cassius, Ptolemy), situated on the river Duria Major.
