HYPERBATON, strictly so called, is a long retention of the verb which completes the sentence, as in the following example from Virgil:

Interea Reges: ingenti mole Latinus
Quadrifugo vehitur curru, cui tempora circum
Aurati his sex radii fulgentia cingunt,
Solis avi specimen: bigis it Turnus in albis,
Bina manu lato crispans hastilia ferro:
Hinc Pater Æneas, Romanæ stirpis origo,
Sidereo flagrans clypeo et caelestibus armis;
Et iuxta Ascanius, magnæ spes altera Romæ:
Procedunt castris.
