IVES, St., is also the name of a town in Huntingdonshire, 64 miles from London. It has a fine stone bridge over the Ouse, had in the ninth century a mint, and was noted for its medicinal waters. Great part of it was burnt down some years ago, but it was rebuilt. Here is a very good market on Monday for fatted cattle brought from the north. Here Oliver Cromwell rented a farm before he was chosen a burgess for Cambridge. Population 2426 in 1811.
