BLACK-Forest, a forest of Germany, in Suabia, running from north to south between Ortnau, Brisgaw, part of the duchy of Wirtemberg, the principality of Fustemberg towards the source of the Danube, as far as the Rhine above Basil. It is part of the ancient Hercynian forest.
