TAVISTOCK, a town of Devonshire in England, situated on the river Tavey or Tave, containing 4723 inhabitants in 1811. W. Long. 4. 12. N. Lat. 50. 37. It sends two members to parliament, and gives the title of marquis to the noble family of Russel duke of Bedford.
