plied to such humours as by long heat become of a hot and fiery nature. Such is cholera supposed to be. Melancholy is usually considered as black and adult bile. Blood is said to be adult, when, by reason of some extraordinary heat, its more subtle parts are all evaporated, leaving the grosser, with all the impurities therein, half torrid.
