PANUCO, a town and province of North America, in New Spain, lying to the north of Mexico, with a bishop's see. There are veins of gold, and salt works, which are the principal revenue of the inhabitants.—It is seated near the mouth of a river of the same name, at a small distance from the gulf of Mexico. W.
