MURANUM, in Ancient Geography, a town on the confines of Lucania. Now Murano; a citadel in Calabria Citra, at the springs of the Sybaris, midway between the Sinus Tarentinus to the east, and the Tuscan sea to the west. Supposed to have arisen from the ruins of Syphacum, a town of the Bruttii mentioned by Livy.
