CALAMATA, a considerable town of Turkey in Europe, in the Morea, and province of Belvedera. It was taken by the Venetians in 1685; but the Turks retook it afterwards with all the Morea. It stands on the river Spinarzo, eight miles from the sea. E. Long 22. 15. N. Lat. 37. 8.
