CALYPSO, in fabulous history, a goddess, who was the daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, or, as others say, of Atlas. She was queen of the island of Ogygia, which from her was called the island of Calyso. According to Homer, Ulysses suffered shipwreck on her coast, and staid with her several years.
